Nutrisystem Week 4
I'll start with the same wordiness as last week. Today marks they end of my 3rd week on Nutrisystem and the start of my 4th week. Nutrisystem is going well. So far I have lost 7lbs! I am happy about this. This weekend we went out of town for a family reunion at the beach. It made staying on the diet a little tricky but at the same time it was easy. I brought my food with me and ate it while there. I had a couple of drinks (wine one night, beer one night, and one night a margarita) while there to add to my calories and ate out smartly twice.
One time was on the drive back we stopped at Cracker Barrel and I had 1 piece of grilled catfish and some turnip greens, so a pretty healthy choice. On the way down I had a lunch bar. If I had another lunch bar I would have ate that but I was out of them and all other choices needed to be microwave so that doesn't work well for a car trip. The second time I ate out was when everyone went out to eat for a family dinner. I had a small helping of crab dip, 1 crab cake (it came with two I gave one away), and grilled asparagus. So again pretty helping smart eating.
Friday night was pizza and pie night. I ate before hand and was not at all tempted to eat pizza or pie. Saturday we went to a diner for lunch and same thing I ate before hand and did not eat anything while out, just drank a glass of water.
So really staying on nutrisystem while out of town wasn't hard, maybe a little tricky, and lastly even when having to eat out nutrisystem helps you to think about your food choices and portion sizes in a whole new way.
Lastly I have been meaning to post pictures of what a nutrisystem meal looks like... so here is a picture of one of my favorite dinner meals, chicken breast stuffed with broccoli, with my add on, collard greens. Yum.

Nutrisystem Week 3
Today is the first day of my 3rd week of Nutrisystem... that's wordy right? I started nutrisystem two weeks ago today. It is going well. I have only lost 4.5 pounds so far. But that is a start. With the nutrisystem diet you are suppose to lose 2-3 pounds a week so I am on track. I was worried about not losing any weight due to my hashimoto. So at least I am losing some, but then at the same time I am surprised that I have only lost 4lbs because I have been so strict with the diet and am eating so little calories... blah blah. If I continue to lose 2lbs a week by the end of nutrisystem I will be down 16lbs and thinking about it in that terms makes me damn happy!
Now that I am done with work for summer I plan to add in more organized exercise! I want to take the babies on a morning walk/jog everyday, well most days. I was going to this morning... but it was raining.... so maybe tomorrow.

Nutrisystem Day 2,3,4
Nutrisystem is going well. Since the last post on this, my frozen food arrived. The frozen "chef" food is pretty good.
I have learned how to add my snacks in and I am doing good about drinking my water. The first day I had a hard time drinking enough water. I didn't realize since I am not pregnant and I am no longer breastfeeding, I am not drinking as much water since I am not worrying about it constantly. But back to drinking lots of water now! I really haven't posted because I haven't had much to say.
The first day was hard. The second day was better. Yesterday was prefect and I even skipped the dessert. Instead I had a second severing of an approved add on item, squash.
Today I was so busy I didn't even add any snacks in. I am going to bed in a few and just finished logging my foods for today and realized I only ate 680 calories. Yikes.
Ok that is not recommended and I was not trying to eat that little. But I am not hungry now and I am about to go to bed, so that's it for today.
My calorie counts have been very small the last four days... the scale has not moved. You are suppose to log your weight everyday on the online program. It has only been 4 days, but you are supposed to lose 2-3lbs in a week following this diet.
I have followed it so strictly. I will be pissed if I don't lose weight in the end. I am notgoing to worry about this now because I still have 95% of the program to go. But I am just saying...

Nutrisystem Day 2
Well before I talk about “day 2” I guess I should talk completely about day 1. Yesterday I started the diet, nutrisytem.
The first day was pretty hard. The food… well it’s not that great, and the portion sizes are tiny. I spent most of the day hungry.
I logged my foods on the online program and in total only ate 1080 calories. See my nutrition background is going to make some of this a little challenging. Since I know that the average person’s BMR is 1200, which means the average person needs to eat 1200 calories a day to live. Also my nutrition background says that you should never follow a diet that suggests you consume less than 1200 calories, basically it is similar to anorexia. Now nutrisytem does NOT suggest that you consume this little amount of calories, as you are supposed to add in smart snacks throughout the day.
Yesterday my snacks were a cup of cherries, a cup of carrots and hummus, and string cheese. So I guess I can add more.
Yesterday I ate the banana nut muffin for breakfast, this was pretty good. I ate the cheese tortellini for lunch, it was not so good it tasted like the plastic container it came in. For dinner I had, chicken alfredo… and it was okay I guess, it didn’t really have a taste at all. For dessert I had the nutrisystem carrot cake… my thoughts on that… why bother.
Today for breakfast I stuck with the banana nut muffin again since I liked it yesterday. Today for lunch I had the chicken noodle soup. The soup was prefect. I am not sure what I will pick for dinner, my frozen foods are supposed to come today so maybe one of those!
For snacks so far today I have had the same thing as yesterday since that is all I have at work. Yesterday I did not do an afternoon snack so I will do so today!
This post my sound a little negative regarding the diet, but really it is okay. Just my raw thoughts from a long first day of starting the diet. Yesterday I spent most of the day thinking about what I could not eat, today has already been better.

Weekend Recap
Nutrisystem Day 1
Today is the first day of starting Nutrisystem. I haven’t received my shipment of frozen food yet, but wanted to start today anyways. I sure went hard this weekend before starting the diet. It was not on purpose by any means, it’s just how it went.
A good friend, who is a co-worker, is the president of the Greek Church here in Richmond. The Greek Festival was this weekend and I wanted to go and enjoy and support her.
We went to the Greek festival Thursday night and ate a wide variety of Greek foods and drank some red wine. Friday my grandmother came down, since it was my mom and grandmother’s birthday. We had blue crabs. My 1000% favorite part of summer is drinking some beers and eating some blue crabs on the deck or outside anywhere. Saturday night we had rib eyes on the grill, and last night I just had a shrimp salad. Yummm.
I won’t be able to eat any of these yummy foods or enjoy a beer or a glass of wine for the next two months.
Blahhhhhhhhhh.
I do know that I will “cheat” a couple of times in July when we are on vacation in FL. But I plan to stick to it as close as possible for best results.
P an N enjoyed a wide variety of Greek Foods, ate blue crab, and P ate some shrimp!
2 more weeks left of teaching. I CANNOT wait for summer. 1 week of instruction left, then 1 week of a exams….
Summer is so close I can taste.
We took the twins to the pool Saturday and Sunday. They absolutely love the pool. I swear N wants to swim. He is wild, he kicks his legs like mad and dunks his head in the water. Mike was trying to get me to let him go and see what happens. I know that babies are capable of swimming, but no thank you. Everyone is already staring at us because we have two babies, I am not going to let go of my baby, and have him chock and barf up pool water… with all eyes on me.

Pictures from the Greek Festival.
Noah loved watching the dancers.

yum, greek food!

yummmmmm

Nutrisystem
So I am tired of being fat. I am working on getting my thyroid levels normalized. And in the meantime I have decided to try Nutrisystem. Now I struggled with the idea of Nutrisystem because it goes against some of my personal beliefs about food… which include you should eat real foods verses eating food products. Nutrisytem is made up of low calorie food products. The idea is you eat these food products for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with two snacks that you purchase from the grocery store (fruits and vegetables) and nothing else. All the nutrisystem food comes to your house, your front door, a month at a time. These food products are low calorie you, eat only these products, you take in a small amounts of calories and therefore you lose weight.
I decided to give Nutrisytem a try because I have been struggling with meal planning recently. With Mike being so busy at work I never know what to cook for just me. Going to the grocery store on a regular basis has also been a struggle with Mike being so busy all the time. Lastly this summer when I am home alone with the twins I may be tempted to snack and over-eat so I think this will help.
I decided this could be a way to jump start my weight loss.
Nutrisystem isn’t exactly cheap so I am hoping that will help in the motivation to strictly stick with it. No eating out, no drinking beer, this is game time. I’m also nervous that I have spent the money, comprised some of my food beliefs – and what if my thyroid issues still prevent me from being able to lose the weight!?
I guess there is only one way to find out.
I ordered Nutrisystem on Tuesday and it looks like it should be at my house by Friday. So I guess I will probably start Monday! If you have any questions let me know. If you use my guy, and my name, you can save $30 bucks a month!
I will be blogging about this journey!
