I had my 28 week check up almost 2 weeks ago, since I have
my 30 week check up on this Thursday. This whole pregnancy I have been really
nervous about check-ups. You walk in thinking everything is okay… but you might
not walk out! My doctor has already told me to be prepared not to go home from
these appointments… because if I have signs of pre-term labor she will admit me
for treatment just like she had
to with my first pregnancy.
When I found out I was having twins again… I immediately
pulled up a calendar to count the weeks to see when I would go on bed rest
assuming this time would be similar to last time. November 30th would have been the
day.
When I realized this I thought for sure I would be in the
hospital on bed rest over Christmas. I was upset about this my whole pregnancy.
But at my 28th week check-up on December 19th,
everything was fine. Everything was prefect and I walked out of the door and
drove home.
I sang to myself, “I’ll be home for Christmas!” That weekend we decked the halls, much later
than the usual of Thanksgiving weekend… but I couldn’t bring myself to do it
earlier because I would have drove myself crazy thinking about what if I am not
here for Christmas.
At my 28 week check-up, I showed no signs of pre-term labor.
My cervix length was 3.54cm and closed. No signs of TTS with baby A weighting
2lbs 10oz and baby B weighing 2lbs 7oz.
I am quickly getting uncomfortable my body aches and I have
a lot of swelling, my blood pressure is good so there are no worries of preeclampsia.
Just normal growing pains of being pregnant with two babies.
I did have a scare the Sunday before my 28th week
appointment. It started Saturday night.
I was very short of breathe like panting while at rest. It was actually scaring
me but I tried to play it off. I laid on the couch and watched a movie… but
still I could not catch my breathe. We took my blood pressure and it was fine…
and I played it off saying I felt better and we went to bed.
The next day I was still having some issues but continued to
not make a big deal out of it. I thought if I went to the hospital for this
they would “lock me up” and I would stay there for several weeks so I did not
want to make a big deal out of nothing. Sunday
night after dinner… it got much worse similar to Saturday night… panting really
hard and could not catch my breathe… even while resting.
Finally I said this is not normal, this is not safe, so I
called my doctor’s office and was told to come in. A VERY long story short… the
babies and I are fine. But I have a hernia that is pushing my stomach in to my
lungs which is laboring my breathing even more after eating, and even more than
being pregnant with twins. So basically I just have to eat really small amounts
at time. So that is why both nights after dinner I was having such a hard time.
I usually have a small appetite for breakfast and lunch as it is.
Thursday I go in for my 30 week appointment and I hope all
is well!
