Having twins…

Is hard you have to do everything twice. Literally. Well duh. I actually usually say having twins is easy because you just do everything twice. And usually I mean it… instead of changing one diaper, you change two, instead of feeding one baby you feed two…. Verses you know doing it all over again a couple years down the road when you add additional children to your family.

Well this past week was hard having twins because I had to do everything twice. The littles or the boys as I have noticed this is what I am starting to call them… had their big surgery last week… and I couldn’t really talk about it before had because I was nervous on so many levels. And… when I did talk about it 10 months ago when we found out about it….I didn’t like people’s responses because… well they didn’t understand!

We circumcise our boys. Since all of them were preemies they do not do this at birth (which I have learned is even a huge plus for full term babies). They do not to circumcision on preemies for a number of reasons… I’ll name two: 1. their penis literally needs time to grow 2. it is mostly considered unnecessary.

When the boys were two months old we took them into their urology appointment to check to see if they were ready for a circumcision. We were told they would not be candidates for a normal circumcision because they have “extra” foreskin. They would have to undergo a more lengthy procedure for “penis correction” and circumcision.

After the first visit to the urologist I was kind of confused.  Mike and I started to question if we even wanted to go further with the circumcision at all… I mean put our kids under for an unnecessary reason! There is so much talk today about not doing them in the first place… that is why it was hard to talk to others about it. As I researched, and had a follow up visit with the urologist… I understood that this was not a normal circumcision… because of the boys extra foreskin… it became even more important for us to have it done. The boys had so much for skin the penis couldn’t even be exposed and this leads to a whole list of other problems done the road. We were told that the boys had what is called a “hidden penis.”

This Thursday the boys had their surgery… and back to the topic of having twins is hard because you have to do everything twice…

Max was scheduled at 8am and Eli was schedule at 9:30am. This was the schedule we had to follow Wednesday night pre doctor’s orders… Max 12am bottle, Eli 2am bottle, 4 am Max water or Juice, 6am Eli water or Juice. 6:30am arrive at hospital, 8am Max surgery, 9am hold Max while Eli gets his surgery at 9:30 am. We were home surely after noon and I took the longest, hardest, deepest nap!!!

The boys did fine with their surgery and now they each have a normal penis! Yay for normal penis! They are healing slowly but surely! If you saw my facebook post the other night you know what I am talking about… I don’t want to go into all that here!

2 year old Preschool Progress Report

Ok, I know I haven’t posted it and a while… and I now rarely even think about posting. But I still want my memories document so I am going to try to do better! Especially since Max and Eli turn 1 in 2 weeks…. How that is even possible I don’t know!!!

Today, is a brag post. I started my day with a parent teacher conference at Presley and Noah’s preschool and what a great way to start the day. Everyone is in love with them and they are thriving. The teacher told us Presley and Noah are the role model children! Oh happy day! :) :) My little preemies I was so worried about are doing just fine.

Big Kid Beds...

Today we upgraded to "big kid" beds... (really toddler beds)... and this was not planned at all! I wrote a post a while back about having 4 cribs in my house... and I was going to keep it that way as long as possible. Well I did keep it that way as long as possible.


The kids have been doing a lot of jumping in their cribs. Well today during nap Noah snapped his bed frame into two pieces. So we were kind of forced.... forced in we went to target and bought beds... because sleeping with us is NOT an option. It wouldn't only be Noah in bed with us it would be both of them.. and just NO! Can't do it.





Technically only Noah needed a bed, but if you know anything about twins just getting him one would not have worked. So we got two new toddler beds. I wanted to go from crib to twin bed.... but didn't want to dish out the cash for twin beds right after Christmas... and I would rather get them "real" beds when we are in our forever home.


We didn't get the beds built under almost 11pm... so we will see how this pans out. Really I am not ready for the whole get out of bed whenever you want thing... but it is what it is.

The zoo!

 We have a zoo membership! It pays for itself in two visits... So it just makes sense. We don't go all the time but every few months... The last time we went was in August right before I went back to work.

It is so neat to see how much P and N have grown since their last visit. Each time I notice how stimulated they are... And how much more they notice and comprehend between trips. 

This Saturday they had a great time. It was a great trip because it wasn't too cold but it was not crowded at all. 

Presley and Noah talked about each animal and noticed things that Mike and I probably wouldn't have. 

One thing that happened that was so funny... we were looking at the giant tortoises and they were inside their little house thing because it was too cold for them and in the mist of the huge tortoises there was also a huge poop. I commented on how big it was to Mike... shortly after Presley noticed and said in the sweetest little voice "oh my God!" 

It was so funny to hear her use that saying in context. we laughed so hard she  got mad and said stop mama, stop dada! 

\That night when we got home we had a conversation with Presley know before bed about the zoo baby cat the visit and talk about each other's favorite thanks Noah said his favorite thing was the birdies Presley said her favorite thing was feeding him they determined that my favorite thing was the zebras and daddy's favorite thing was the two black bears it was so cute.

10 weeks 10 pounds

I haven’t blog recently, for several reasons, we are super busy...

 I have started a major workout/life style change and I feel great. In 10 weeks I have lost 10 pounds, of course I wish it were more but…I want to lose weight and I am not into a fad diet or changes that won’t last long-term…so a slow and steady pace has been good for this little life makeover.

 

Here’s what I have got that has really helped #1. GYM membership with childcare, #2. Nike fuelband and app for phone, #3. Lose it app

 

#1. Gym membership has been super awesome. I go 6-7 times a week…. Took a little building up to go this often but really I don’t feel the same when I don’t go to the gym! I feel like I didn’t do something I was supposed to!

#2. Nike fuelband… the most awesome purchase ever. It is an activity monitor that shows you how active you are, reminds you to be active and pushes you to be even more active throughout the day.

#3. Lose it app. An app that syncs with my fuel band… and allows me to track my calories each day, along with my exercise and  is where I record my weight to watch and meet weight loss goals.

9 month check

Max and Eli had their 9 month check up last week and their developmental appointment and the results are... They are just perfect! 😍

Big boy hair cut

 

My Noah got his first real hair cut yesterday...aka... Big boy hair cut.

I liked the long hair... but it seemed like all of a sudden it got  a little crazy. I was kind of sad to think about aging up to a BIG boy hair cut. But I am glad I did because I love it so much and it looks sooo good! I took him to one of those overpriced kids places that has the car/ride seats to sit and get your hair cut... I showed him pictures online a head of time and talked to about what would happened. He was so excited to ride in the "police car" until it was his turn and then he flipped out. Crying and clinging to me for dear life... but this girl was a pro... she just started cut his hair while he was cling to me like it was totally normally, eventually I sat in a grown up chair and she cut his hair... he calmed down and started talking about how he wanted a orange lollipop for getting his hair cut.

Presley was there to literally cheer on her Noah. I talked her about how only Noah was getting a hair cut, because girl's like long hair. I had to do this.. because I didn't want her to get her hair cut and I know she would have been jealous if I didn't explain first. She was saying "yay Noah get hair cut! good job Noah" So sweet! Also you can see from the pictures they had a Thomas the Train play set in the waiting area... the first thing Presley did when Noah started crying was run over to the train set and grab Thomas and bring it to him... to cheer him up!
