Diaper Stock Pile Inventory Sheet

Every good stock pile has to have an inventory sheet. So I created one to track my supply, deals, and overall spending. I feel good about my stock pile and unless I see an unbeatable deal my purchasing of diapers will wait until the twins arrival.

Tip: Be sure to tape your receipt to the box in case you end up with too many of a size, due to babies growing faster than projected, improper fit, or in case of allergies. Amazon and Diapers.com offer hassle free returns up to 365 days after the purchase price. Babies R Us return policy is only 90 days.

Diaper Deals

Diapers are a task that I knew I wanted to tackle. I created a buy guide, to help me not overdo it, and have since been searching for everyday low prices and amazing diaper deals. Below are some of the things I have come across.

I have 2 boxes of newborn  pamper swaddlers I got from amazon… came across a supplier that had them priced low I paid 16 cents per diaper, still had free shipping and no tax, but the shipping took 7-10 days. The shipping time does not matter right now.

I have 3 boxes of size 1 pampers swaddlers, 2 cases of diapers are from diapers.com. The first box of diapers from diapers.com I received $17 off with coupons and coupon codes. The first time you order from diapers.com you receive $15 off a $49 order with code see below for code. At the time pampers had a $2 savings coupon that was also applied. So the case of diapers that is originally $49.99 cost me $32.99. The box has 234 diapers so that is 14 cent a diaper.

I got a second box of diapers from diapers.com that my mom ordered for me using the $15 off code at her time of ordering there was a $1 pampers coupon saving. So her case of $49.99 cost $33.99. That is also 14 cents a diaper.

Diapers.com has no tax and free two day shipping. When I originally started to use their website I was excited about their loyalty program. The program offers 5 dollars off each case of diapers you purchase. After price checking everywhere this was the best deal I could find on everyday pricing. They also let you use e-coupons which makes each case an even better deal! I am sad to say that I just discovered they are ending their loyalty program on March 31st, 2012. So my search for the best value of everyday pricing of diapers continues. There website does say they are creating a new loyalty program, but at this time it does not say how it will work.

Make sure to sign up at diapers.com and get a few discounted cases of diapers before the deal is gone. Especially the $15 off a case with Coupon Code: GIVEME15. The deal is good until March 31, 2012. If you do so please use me as a reference so I can earn reward points towards future purchases…My Referral Code is:  HUNT8272  Thank you!

The third case of size 1 pampers I purchased came from amazon. I signed up for Amazon Mom after discovering the diapers.com loyalty program was ending. (There is no longer a waiting list to join Amazon Mom. But the program benefits are different than they use to be and according to other moms it is not as good of a deal or discount as it used to be.) The first three months of the membership is free. After that they charge you $79 a year to be a member. Which right now I think this is ridiculous, with the membership you get free two day shipping and an extra 15% off the cost of a case of diapers when you sign up for “subscribe and save.” Which is roughly a savings of $7 dollars a case… so you would have to buy 11 cases before you would actually save money. With subscribe and save Amazon will automatically ship you a case of diapers each month and charge your credit card. A month is the shortness increment available. They do not have an option to send them more frequently than once a month. So if the only thing you purchased from Amazon Mom is diapers then really you would only end up saving $7 on diapers for the whole year. They also offer the additional 15% when you subscribe to wipes. However, after starting to price check wipes… they are just as cheap at Walmart and Babies R Us. It could be a convenient thing to have them shipped to your house. But again I am not sure if $79 a year is a deal… I am going to drop the membership after my free 3 months is up… and if I discover it is worth it I can add and pay the money later.

When I first tried to sign up for “subscribe and save” it would not apply my additional 15% Amazon Mom discount. I had to contact costumer service about this and they told me that discount would not be applied until my second case of diapers came in the mail. She told me that after the 1st case the 15% would automatically come off. Well… I thought this was ridiculous, so after expressing that to the customer service rep she manually took the discount off. The case of size 1 diapers (234 count) cost me $34.40. Which is more than 15%... the diapers cost me 14 cents each. I will get two more cases of size 1 diapers before canceling my membership they will cost $37.76 so the diapers will be 16 cents each.

I also have 2 boxes of size 2 pampers swaddler diapers in my stock pile that I got from Babies R Us. Their cases of diapers cost $45.99 and have less in a box than Diapers.com and Amazon. A XL case of size 1 diapers from diapers.com and amazon contains 234 diapers. The case of diapers at Babies R Us only has 210. The XL case of size 2 diapers from online sites has 204 diapers. The case of size 2 diapers at Babies R Us as 186. So not only are the diapers cheaper by the case online, you also get more in a box, making the cost of each diaper much cheaper.

Babies R Us does have good sales every now and they have a rewards program. When you purchase 10 cases of diapers your 11th is free. (Better than nothing!) This weekend they had a deal going on, on pampers. When you bought any two cases of diapers you got $25 off. So I purchased two cases of diapers for $70.33. I paid 18 cent for each size 2 diaper. The lowest everyday price I have found to date for size 2 pamper swaddlers diapers is 22 cents. So it was a good deal.

However I made a rookie mistake and left the Sunday newspaper coupons at home. I could have saved an additional $3. L

It kills me to pay more for something I know I could get for less. This is one reason why I have started stocking piling and why I franticly price check and search for diaper deals.

With the diapers.com program coming to an end… and the expensive Amazon mom membership dues… I am forced to continue to searching for the lowest everyday diaper prices and deals.

I need to check out BJs again, I get a discounted and extended membership if I sign up through my school.

The diaper buy guide I created.

My Mom Made these outfits for the twins!

My mom is the best! She is so creative! Love you!

You may also enjoy the nursery sneak peak!

I LOVE A GOOD DEAL

We got out car seats, two Graco infant snugride 30's from Toys R Us not Babies R Us. Toys R Us had a 20% coupon off  regular priced car seats. With the twin discounts you get an extra 10% off. So a car seat that cost $129.99 cost us $93. That's a good deal!

We also got our baby swing at 20% off!

Oh and soooooo many cute baby clothes!

Moving down the check-list and it feels good!

Overwhelmed, stressed, whatever you want to call it.

Can’t sleep tonight – instead I am up wide awake thinking. Thinking about everything that is glooming over my head… like when will I have to go on bed rest? How much time do I have to get stuff done/figured out? When will they born? Will they be big and healthy? Will they be able to come home with me from the hospital? Or will I have to leave behind the biggest part of me – a part of me that I don’t fully understand yet? Will have I have to leave empty handed after all my literal blood, swear, tears?

Tonight these questions are weighing me down and sleep is not happening. I am dealing with the only question I can somewhat answer at this time.

How in the world am I am going to get everything the twins need before they get here? Time is not on my side. And with the whole bed rest thing not only will I lose the ability to psychically go get the things I need I also lose my full salary – which is kind of important when it comes to buying things.

I tried to wake up Mike to talk to him about all the things going on in my overworked mind… he listens and falls back to sleep. I asked him “Mike how are we going to do this, how are we going to get everything we need?” He replied, “We will find a way Heather, everything will be okay.” To which I replied, “How?” How do you know? How?” Mike replied “everything will be okay” and then drifted back to sleep. I have woke him up several times to repeat basically the same conversation.

One of the hardest things about all these emotions I am feeling is communicating them. Telling my husband exactly how I feel and how he can help me cope with them. I am hoping taking the time to write them down in this blog will help to do that.

I am going to make some online purchases that will hopefully help me get to sleep. I am going to create a list of things that I think I will actually need in the first few months of the twins life to use as a check list/buy guide.

1.      Car seats $129.99 x 2
2.      Infant sleepers – co sleeper $199.99 or fisher price rock n play sleepers 64.99 X 2
3.      Baby wipes
4.      Breast Pump $250
5.      Twin Breast feeding pillow $60
6.      Bottles
7.      Bobbys $50 x 2
8.      Bathtub $20
9.      Baby wash cloths $5
10.  Baby body wash/shampoo
11.  Infant swing $160

What else do you need in the first few months? What else did you use that helped you survive?
What about the baby shower? The big one is now in August which has helped add to me not sleeping tonight.

Besides who is going to buy gifts over $100 – no one! Or over $50 for that matter!

So what should tonight’s purchase be… I am thinking the infant swing because I don’t think anyone will buy it for me because of its price and most people do not see it has something you “need” but I am thinking about it as a life saver in the middle of the night when you have two babies crying. The other thing I know I need to buy myself is the breast pump… but I don’t really feel like dropping $250 bucks for it right now, also I want to talk to my doctor about renting one from the hospital.

Baby (Babies?) Registries

We are registered and they feel like a piece of art. Or like a really awesome checklist....

Anyways we are registered at 3 places.

1. Babies R Us - that main one that has pretty much everything we need
http://www.toysrus.com/registry/myregistry/index.jsp

2. Target - who doesn't shop at Target? wanted to make in convenient for people... before I was pregnant I always got my baby shower gifts at Target.

http://www.target.com/baby/registry/qRIoXP1HFKxZ7edEV_AGVw

3. Amazon - mainly books and toys (cheaper), a few larger items because I found they are so much cheaper than Babies R US. I am always price checking everything. Plus no tax and free shipping!
